other cities, such as Houston, have more Fortune 500 headquarters than LA, which has only 5 Fortuen 500 headquarters.

Los Angeles obviously has a much more significant populations than Houston and so their economic output isn't a balanced comparison. Los Angeles also is home to the entertainment industry which brings in massive revenues (the world box office last year was $23 billion). Another difference might be the tourism advantage that LA holds over many other urban areas.

Houston metro area has only 6 million and is ranked 11th
