Psychology tries to pass itself off as science but of all the sciences, this is the most subjective field which makes the most vague predictions that "may or may not" be true.

The human mind is too complex for the human mind to completely understand itself. It is even more difficult to compare and contrast minds. Creating a model which explains the actions of all minds is even more difficult. Then they try to create a model for what is considered a "normal and healthy mind." This sounds more like mind control than a search for the truth.

Why do psychologists do all of this and try to pass themselves off as real scientists? They can study trends in human behavior but they cannot tell you the true cause of any behavior, nor can they accurately predict human behavior.

If psychology is a true science, then why can't they cure violence? Would you want a cure for violence? This entire field seems quack. If anyone is equipped to explain how I feel, it's me, not someone else.

Psychology as a scientific discipline is still in it's infancy. 'Vague predictions' of 'this may or may not' is a result of this. It was fact not long ago that it was thought that the world was flat and that the Earth was the center of the solar system and with that many other sciences also only have theories for how things work, its not just Psychology.

Despite that, in a number of the sub fields of Psychology, we do know what do and do not work and why they do or do not work. Just because we do not have a full understanding does not automatically kick it out of the science field.

Will we ever know a true cause of an individuals behaviour? Probably not, because we are damn complicated. It is not like gravity where we know if we drop something we know it will fall. But we do know things about what can make people act in a certain way.

While there is no singular 'cure' for violence, we do know things that can help people control their violent tendencies and factors that are associated with stopping people from becoming violent. Unfortunately, ultimately they require a HUGE societal change, that it will likely never happen.

And even if a single cure was developed to help rid the world of violence, at this very point in time, the patient has the right to refuse treatment.

Psychology is extra huge than that although. i have self belief that you're overlooking it as too shallow. I had initially concept extra like that although I took an AP psychology classification in college and it really is not as a lot understanding what, yet extra the why. Why did that man or woman kill themselves? Why would he shoot a clergyman if he's a good Christian? in case you imagine about it, the minds of others is the purely mission we received't teach without info, so surely psychologists are trying to do between the most confusing issues. some human beings also favor help of their lives; operating example in the journey that they couldn't manage their own concepts or recognize why they did something or why they sense a particular way, psychologists are like own instructors of your self. Psychology is a miles more desirable than emotions to boot. you should understand which part of the mind does which action or dictates which function. If someone is a serial assassin purely of their sleep yet at the same time as they awaken they're an angel and characteristic no recollection of what occurred, then the psychologists favor to make then imagine of their own minds what is going incorrect and why that express part of the mind is performing this form. the most basic type of it really is assorted personality ailment, they're despatched distinctly to psychologists to make sure why is anomaly occurs. maximum persons do no longer comprehend how deep huge psychology receives. sure that is a branch of biology yet having reported that are not there diverse branches of scientists? Of engineers? Of protection force? the most wanted question contained in the human race is why and that is psychologists section to make sure the why of human nature and clarify.

Do you have a mind? Do you have emotion? Are your actions base on your thoughts and emotions? Then this subject is not quack. It makes a difference to people when you help them out of their misery. Words can do so many things. People really appreciate them too. No one can tell you how you feel, but they can change your mind. Everything in our lives is based on psychology. Commercials affect us with words, and we buy the products even when we don't need them. Love, hate, anger, being cool, intelligence, fear, courage, etc. This is what life is all about right? It's all psychological. Everything we do is controlled by it. If you don't like this subject, don't get into it or comment on it.

Try dissecting Parapsychology

Some patterns fall into general fields for what is termed normalcy.

However, society changes.

For instance, not too long ago bisexuality was taboo and forbidden and now it is common.
You can consider it due to lack of morality which is akin to church and state removal. However, that is another issue.

Psychology studies human behavioral patterns. We all encompass the ability to self analyze and heal but only a few of us do this and others know this and thus, become psychologists.

Psychology is fascinating and yes, it is a science based on anthropology and sociology. Moreso, Parapsychology is the more fascinating subject.

Psychology, only becomes stupid when it relies soley on Sigmund Schlomo Freud! Read C.F Mason's Book Assault on the Truth and the biography of Freud by Ernest Jones.

The only cure for violence is:
Frontal Lobotomy, leaving the violent person in a vegetative state.
Sometimes shock therapy works or you can drug them out of their minds and hold them in an institution for the Criminally Insane forever, which has been deemed politically incorrect. Most States have closed such institutions for budgetary reasonins! Hence you had people like Jeffery Dahmer, Idi Amin, and of Late Cho and the V-tech massacre.

Your question raises an interesting point. Since the OTHER definition of psychology is: "The study of human and animal behavior," I would be inclined to agree with your analogy, but only to a point. The study of ANYTHING is not; in and of itself, a claim to know what makes that particular thing tick. It is an ongoing study, like science itself, or archaeology, or medicine. We will probably NEVER know everything there is to know about any of these subjects, but does this mean we should stop studying them?

I think you're right to some extent. I think psychology IS a science but a science with special characteristics. It is a science that has been studied a lot but since the field is too complex to completely be covered, it has done less than we expect.
And I agree that no one can understand my mind better than me, provided I have enough knowlege about anlyzing it.

Psychology is a science because it employs the use of The Scientific Method in its research.

You condemn the science because it doesn't have the answer to all the questions....isn't that true of all science? Isn't that the point? *ALL* scientific fields seek to answer the potentially unanswerable. Is there a cure for cancer? Does that make a cancer researcher any less of a scientist? A meterologist last time I checked is not capable of predicting weather patterns with 100% accuracy. Is that not a science then?
Heck...why stop with science. Lawyers cannot win every case, are they not lawyers then?

There will never be a cookie cutter explanation that applies to all humans. We are more variable than we are similar.
