No, I prefer the lid stays down...but yesterday my son was standing on the toilet, he was trying to see the mirror, and he actually broke the lid, so right now it's not up or down.=)

The lid is always up - except if by 18 month yr old decides to come into the bathroom while I am in there it goes down pronto, otherwise he sticks his hands down the loo !

We had a dog that would, given the opportunity,
drink from the toilet.
This taught us both to put both the seat and the
lid down.
Its just as well - there might have been a war
otherwise.

If the washroom is only for me to use, I would expect the seat to stay down. If any male friends or relatives forget to leave the seat down, I would say something like......"Someone forgot to leave something down after using the LOO"....
