If we're talking about pure or homegrown Filipinos, chances are almost nil. Filipinos just don't have the size and matching athletic ability to make it to the NBA. Now, there are so called Fil-Am or half-breed Filipinos who are more or less blessed with size and athletic ability. Most of these guys played college ball in the U.S. so they have enough experience and exposure to make it to the big league. I think one Fil-Am player already made it to the NBA sometime during the 80's but he wasn't technically Filipino.

Filipinos are short yes, but as I say, smaller you are harder to catch. If there was a Pinoy in the NBA there would be 2 things. An abnormally tall Pinoy, or an average sized pinoy with super fast speed, crazy ball handling, massive agility, and dead eye shooting to make up for his power in the key. I think the former might happen much fast than the latter.

considering the height which is one of the most important factors in basketball (which is absent but can be overcome),there might be a chance but most probably a point guard positions, Filipinos can develop skills in ball handling and shooting but must give an exceptional talent (to match) knowing NBA guards with agility plus their heights, "INGREDIENTS must be a.speed, b.shooting, c.ball handling, d.I.Q. and e.heart, this can surpass the tallness.

Anyone in the world can....it all comes down if the player has the talent and mind set to compete in the NBA.

Yeah, but if they play in the NBA they wouldn't be so great because in the Philippines their opponents are not all great compared to the NBA. The NBA is full of 6'6 average big men who are very talented.

Yes.Johnny Abarientos almost made it there.I don't know what happened though. Johnny was at the peak of his career back then. The NBA officials were amazed at him.I think Johnny turned the opportunity down for his love of PBA.

It's just like the two above said. Race or country does not matter, but having lots of talent does.

they've had a pro league for a long time, yet hasn't produced any nba talent. so there are chances, just noone has been good enought to step up.

race shouldn't matter...but filipinos are pretty short (myself being a short filipina)...if you're wanna get into the NBA you need a whole lottttta skill; your height shouldn't matter too much if you're talented.
