We used to use Arm and Hammer, but now we use All, it only happens every now and then.

it's probably not the detergent. it may be due to the spin cycle and liquid softener. the clothes get pulled against the back of the machine which has the drainage holes. if you have unusually hard water it could explain it. with the hard water, those drain holes could be holding onto residue from everything. fill the tub with hot soapy bleach water. no clothes. let it sit and then run it as usual. see if that helps.try using detergent that is free and clear and maybe go to dryer sheets.

Are you using powder or liquid. If powder, put it in the washer first, fill with water then add the clothes. See if that helps. If you're using blue fabric softener in the rinse cycle that may be the problem instead of your detergent.

It sounds as if you are using a softener product in your washer. If it doesn;t get dispensed at the right time it will stain your clothes. Try switching to dryer sheets.
