If you are paranoid about getting pregnant, then you should not be having sex. Condoms can fail. Nothing but abstinence is 100% effective.

Condoms are 98-99% effective with perfect use (everytime, if you unroll if the wrong way or see a tear tossing it and getting a new one, etc), in most common use they are 85-94% effective. Combining a condom with the pill lowers odds further. However there have been people using a combined pill and condom who still got pregnant. Nothing is 100% so if you're not ready for kids, you're not ready for sex.

At least you are using comdoms...however, they are not fool proof...in order for them to be close to 100%, several things need to be considered....
make sure that they have not expired (yes they do have expiration dates)
make sure that they have not been kept in the heat (latex will degrade in the heat, and they could bust)
Make sure that the lubricant you use (if any) is water based and not vaseline (petroleum products will degrade the latex and they could bust)
make sure that the woman is well lubricated inthe vaginal area, so that penetration is easy and the penis glides in and out very easily with every thrust. If it is not well lubricated, then the latex could tear from being in a rough environment.
make sure that the condom is put on a fully erect penis, and that it is unrolled completely and there is a little soace left at the end for the ejaculate (failure to do this may cause a condom to slip off or burst under the pressure of the ejaculate.
and lastly, make sure that after he ejaculates, he holds onto the condom as he withdraws his penis, because his penis will shrink pretty quickly and if he loses the grip on the condom, it could leak into your vagina...
if you really want to add another safety measure, figure out when your fertile times are and avoid those times and then the chances of getting pregnant are virtually nil.
good luck

You are not being paranoid. You have natural concerns. Contrary to one of your answerer's said, that that condoms are 98% effective if used perfectly, if used correctly, condoms are about 85% effective. The most effective method is to use b/c pills in addition to using condoms.
Both my x-wife and I were RNs and that was the method we used when we didn't want her to get pregnant. The "morning after pill" works by causing a chemical abortion, so you should be aware of that.
The reason that condoms are needed in addition to b/c pills is of course because of HIV and other STDs but also because b/c pills aren't always effective either. If a woman is on b/c pills and takes an antibiotic, that can make the b/c pills ineffective. There are some other medications that can do this also.

I am not trying to be rude or judge you but honestly if you are paranoid of becomming pregnant maybe you shouldnt be having sex at least that way you are garunteed not to become pregnant. There isint a brith control that is 100% effective I know I got pregnant on the pill. If you are going to be active get on the pill and still use the condom and double protect yourself!!!!

While condoms were intended to be safe, there are times when they will break, then you could become pregnant, the only sure way not to get pregnant is to abstain from sex until your wedding night. I hope the Holy Spirit gives you the strength to say no and wait until that special night.

I used to feel this way too. Condoms are about 98% effective when used PERFECTLY. I suggest getting on birth control for a back up method, in case a condom breaks or something. It really helped to ease my mind.
Edit!
The morning after pill does not cause abortion. The abortion pill, which is completely different causes abortion. I have taken the morning after pill and the information that Planned Parenthood gave me with it said "the morning after pill will not work if you are already pregnant"
Sorry, I just needed to put my 2 cents in.

If you are worried about sex, then maybe you should not have sex. But to answer you question yes a condom broke once, and I did not get pregnant. How ever that does not mean it won't happen.
Good Luck

hey sweet, yes condoms work if you put them on correctly and being on a contraceptive pill is a good extra protection, just incase the condom breaks. Also if the condom breaks and your not on the pill, you can go to the chemist and ask for the morning after pill
