I not entirely sure what exactly I want to do, but I know I want to travel. And so, career-wise I should learn a second language.

But which one?

I want to learn Japanese, since I always wanted to go there. Whether, by leisure, business, student exchange, or what have you, I have always wanted to go there.

However, I live in Miami and the Spanish community is huge. So, there is benefit to learning Spanish. Especially, if I want to go into business and deal with the Latin American sector. I want to go to Trinidad and Tobago one day to work, and there is plenty of interaction with Venuzuela, so I'll need Spanish.

Plus, I've already started learning Spanish, since it's the only language my school offers. So I'll have two years of Spanish when I graduate. Of course, I'll need more classes to refine it after high school and to make it usable on a business level.

But I'm not willing to let go of Japanese, so I want to take it in college.

Is it possible for me to take them both?

You can really take whatever classes you want to in college. If you want to take 4 different language courses at a time you may sign up for them, but if you'll be able to do well is another story.
What most people do with language in college who wish to be multilingual is to take 2 semesters of one language and then move on to the next.

When I was an opera major we were supposed to know French, Italian, German and Latin by the time we graduated. We spent two semesters (one year) on each. I even took spanish over summer semesters.

It's hard, but if you're willing to work at it you can do it. Being multilingual will help you greatly in the business world.

Good luck and good for you for being concerned about your future this early.

Spanish YES, Japanese, you may need to find a local private lesson or teacher. I am in Central Florida, and a Japanese who attended University in America. I have been to Miami, depend on which college you are going to, your Japanese class may be very limited. But yes, you can be flexible WHERE you learn your language at. I wish we lived close from each other, I would be your language teacher. I am actually thinking of applying at local college to teach Japanese language, but was not sure if there would be much demand. So, other alternative was to place an ad for private lesson. I am sure you can find a good Japanese language teacher in Miami, please be careful and check their credentials.

You can take whatever classes you want in college! It's all up to you what you take as electives. You may also want to try the learning software you can buy online. Good luck!

You could but depending on your classload, it requires alot of determination, and time. I would try it, but be warned it is difficult since you will be learning two very complex languages. I am trying to learn German, and Japanese, and it is very difficult,
