The only safe types of turtles to put in a koi pond are the plastic type that do not need feeding.
RES are carnivorous and will attack any fish in the pond.
All turtles will attack the fish so please do not put any in with yours.
They all can carry salmonela so could infect your fish also.

a shubunkin is a goldfish, that can artwork for the pond. the koi will artwork also. you wont desire a heater. yet they can't stay with the different fish because, a million) the guppies and bettas are tropical, and the goldfish and koi are chilly water fish. and a couple of) the goldfish and koi will devour the different fish. you ought to come to a decision between one or the different. in case you purchase a heater, the guppy and bettas can stay there for the iciness, ans 12 months round. in case you dont desire a hater, get a tank for them for interior, and keep the koi and goldfish outdoors.

If I were to add a turtle in this situation, I would do a Painted Turtle. Native to much f the US, very hardy, smaller than a Red-ear Slider and a bit easier to care for.
The down-side is that the turtle will often harrass the koi if it can. This would be a function of relative sizes, space available, feeding, and availability of hiding places.

You can put a turtle in your koi pond, red eared sliders are a good aquatic turtle that isn't endangered. Just be aware that turtles are mightly dirty and it would probably be a strain on your filter (unless you have a super high quality big one) and that if your koi are small enough, it'll eat those. Also, there's no garuantee that if you put a turtle in, it'll stay there. He might just decide to up and wander off.

Check with your local Fish and Wildlife department. Red Eared Sliders are illegal in some states, and an imported turtle could cause an ecological strain (and earn you a fine!). Depending on where you are, a native species should be the best option, and you may be able to "attract" one to you :-)

I would say red ear sliders. They eat fish, but not fish that are their size or bigger. I had 2 and I would even get them feeder fish and that would swim with them instead of eat them! They can be messy, but they are also fun to watch.
