They are by nature lazy. They hunt in the dark and only move around periodically. When it's dark in the room, sit still in front of the tank, with just a little light in the room so you can watch. Drop a spirullina pellet into the tank. He may be eating the food that drops to the bottom,so he doesn't care to hunt for algae..If he's alive, that's enough proof that he moves and eats, just not while you watch. They like to live in caves and hide -outs.

Yep, not unusual at all. Plecos are nocturnal by nature and prefer to hide during the day. They also sometimes get lazy about eating algae especially if other food is available.

Plecos are nocturnal and will only come out at night when you are sleeping. Mine does that too and comes out at night. Hope this helps!

To enjoy your nocturnal fish to the fullest there are red lights that fish can't see, that will allow you to watch the nocturnal goings-on without disturbing your fish. These are really popular with catfish collectors.
