6 years under Bush's watch.

Bet you anything wounded Iraq contractors got A+ care on the tax payer's dime.

Republican war-mongering, "support the troops, until they get mutilated/injured", dirtbags make me want to vomit.

How come no one in Bush's administration or the pentagon kept an eye on things all these years? (no good "photo ops" at a hospital I guess). LOL.....Bush could have worn a surgeon's suit instead of a flight suit this time......lol

It was their needless war that put them there in the hospital in the first place!

The Bush administration does not care about people, except perhaps for the very rich. The neglect of the hospital conditions was not deliberate; it was just part of their overall policy of not caring.

It would seem rational that if you start a war and use the troops as propaganda props for your war that you would actually be very concerned about their care when they returned home. To the Bush administration, caring about wounded vets was an irrelevancy that could be handled by the existing bureaucracy unless the opportunity arose for a good photo-op. They just don’t care.

Lack of accountability. The conditions at the VA hospitals were obviously the result of administrators and politicians who should be held accountable for their dismal performance in performing their duties and simple doing their jobs.
Do not be so anti-Bush focused as to blame only this administration - these concerns go back a lot longer than that.
It's disgraceful that wounded and handicapped troops returning home should be apparently considered on such a low priority. One can only hope that putting a spot light on this issue will serve to greatly improve the conditions found at the Walter Read facility and elsewhere.

hi! uncertain in case you're speaking from an American or British perspective, yet the two international locations do this. in spite of ones view on the situation, our veterans should not be taken care of like hero's on a similar time as they are fit and on energetic duty and then discarded while they are injured or made ill through that duty. there are various campaigning in this subject, as I even have through fact the 1980's as quickly as I realised what number veterans have been between the homeless inhabitants. SAAFA; the Royal British Legion; Federation des Combattamnts Allies en Europe and the regimental networks are elevating this subject and the undeniable fact that ex-provider workers often have little help by using the transition to civilian existence. stable question. stable needs.

Just another fact to prove that the soldiers are at the bottom of the list of concerns of the bush administration. There may have been issues before bush but, bush sent our soldiers to war so it was his responsibility as commander in chief to ensure that the troops have what they need. That includes proper medical care in the field and at home.

The structural conditions in the building did not happen overnight. And congress provides the money to the VA for that stuff. Congress has the oversite responsibility. Its the congress dummy.

The military hospital system has had problems that predate Bush. Don't believe blindly everything you read.
