I attended a university for four years but did not earn a degree. I majored in electrical engineering but I was a mediocre student. I missed graduation by .1 of a gpa point. I'm completely lost in my career path now and Im not sure what to do with my past education. Its pretty hard to show my face back at the university now. Also im not very sure if EE would be a career path im willing to take.

Go back to school. You don't want to go through all that hard work for nothing. If you feel you can't go back to that particular university, ask for permission to retake some classes at another university or community college. There may also be the option to take online classes. I really feel that you should just go back though. No one is worried about what you're doing. They're all concerned with their own educations. If anyone asks, just tell them you had some trouble and need to retake some classes before you graduate. It happens to the best students. Good luck whatever you do, but don't delay. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to go back.

P.S.- You're not a college dropout.

Hey dude, if you're not sure it's what you want to do with the rest of your life than it's not what you should be doing. Don't be too down on yourself. Just figure out what it is you want to do and go for it. The credits you've earned aren't a waste. Many will apply to another major. Go talk to a counselor at your school and figure out what your options are. And let me say one more thing...It's much better to find out that you don't want to do something with your life before you start than to spend twenty years doing it and hating every day as I've done.

Go back and finish your Degree.. .1 is nothing .. and you can certainly get it this time..

More importantly, don't feel sorry for yourself.. Be glad that you have this additional time to obtain more education.. As it will make you that much better when you enter your chosen field.

If not for failing.. how will we know when we have succeeded?

Good Luck.. and kick some College Butt

Swallow your pride, man. go back to school. Kudos to the 22 year old who made a living without an education, but not everyone can do it, and it's incredibly risky. Go....Back...To.....School. Run if you have to! JUST GO BACK!
