Thought that is thought as having not language, not symbol, not logos, not abstraction nor representatives for a thought which is not its self representing its self. An identity that a consciousness knows it only as its self as existing for its self and no other thing exists for it for as it. e.g. a picture-thought misidentified for the thing its self, the thing its self is not the picture thought i.e. a thought misidentified as a real thing. When the picture-thought is identified as its self as picture-thought and not the thing its self, then elementary thought is identified. The picture-thought is a thought formed of a real external thing seen and seeing a thing forms a picture-thought for the real thing. The seeing thing is not assumed as universality but a particular and a possibly a peculiar individual.

'§ 141

The empty abstractions, by means of which the one identical content perforce continues in the two correlatives, suspend themselves in the immediate transition, the one into the other. The content is itself nothing but their identity (§138): and these abstractions are the seeming of essence, put as seeming. By the manifestation of force the inward is put into existence: but this putting is the mediation by empty abstractions. In its own self the inter-mediating process vanishes to the immediacy, in which the inward and the outward are absolutely identical and their difference is distinctly no more than assumed and imposed. This identity is Actuality.'
