I am currently searching for a new job and am concerned because my financial stability will only sustain me through the end of this month. I am curious if anyone know how long it takes after submitting a resume to typically receive a response back if the hiring company is interested in your resume. I am not sitting around waiting for anyone, being that I am continuing my job search, but I am still curious, as I have sent out almost fifty resumes and have not gotten a response in the past week and a half....it's just a little frustrating.

It depends on how you've submitted your resume.
Have you tailored your resume to the type of job you want?

For instance; if you want to work in retail -have you placed your retail experience at the top of your resume?

If you want to work in an office setting - have you tailored your resume to reflect your experience in that type of field.

At first, the responses to my resume were not fast either. That was until I started tailoring my resume for the type of job(s) I was looking for.
It took all of 10 minutes to edit my resume. Once it was done, the responses through email and phone calls hasn't stopped eventhough I now have a job. That was 3wks ago.

Have you posted with Monster.com, hotjobs, careerbuilder etc.?

Don't give up hope. But in the meantime, you may want to consider applying with some staffing agencies. They can find temporary or temp to hire positions that will earn you some money until that job you really want comes along.

Good luck

if you're filing a resume' on-line, there are thousands of others doing the very similar mission. till your resume' makes it by the computerized filters, and someone surely bothers to examine it, that is amazingly not likely you receives a lot more desirable than an computerized reaction that it were received.
