Yes, I have the same problem. The movie American History X somehow creeps me out every time I watch it. I don't go looking for the movie but whenever I run into it I just cant stop watching. I think it has to do something with repetition and human nature. Humans are naturally curious, we desire thrills and scary movies provide a mental thrill. So watching those movies again and again full fills that need with out introducing us to unfamiliar elements.

Masochism? I hate being afraid. I don't watch scary movies. Well...If it's a good mystery, and has only a couple of scary moments...I usually leave the room 'til those pass. What I REALLY hate is movies that cheat-they're not scary; they just startle you every couple of minutes. You know-high-pitched sustained musical note and then WHAM! and everybody jumps and shrieks! Grrr. I won't watch those; I think they're dishonest. It's like the movies that have so little faith in their plot that they have a "hostage to fortune"; a puppy or a child or something for the audience to worry about that's not really germaine to the plot...-Because I DO worry about the child or kitten or..-and it makes me mad! (Woe to the writer/producer who actually does away with the puppy...!) I guess I'm maybe the only person in the world who doesn't like an adrenalin rush...Adrenalin just makes me angry.

Because it's fun! Everyone likes to be creeped out!! Hopefully it will never happen in your life, people do not like to believe that it could ever happen to them!! But it happens so much, we are in disbelief!! No, it can't be our neighbor, no it can't be someone we know, or that we went to school with! I guess it's not that fun!! But everyone has a deep dark side that no one knows about!! No one is perfect, and we all have our little secrets!! It sucks!! But it is true!! I've never met a perfect person in my whole life!! Sucks,

Perhaps observing creepy scary things that go boo makes everyday ordinary fears look smaller, and facing creepy scary things that go boo makes it easier to face smaller fears, or maybe it's just that tingle up the spine once in awhile makes one feel more alive and exhilarated, even if scared.....

when you are scared your brain releases adrenaline..
knowing that its just a movie, and there is no real threat, allows you to enjoy the adrenaline that can be like a mini natural high...
