My Basic Instinct is to tell you that licensing agreements have not been agreed between Beatles and Apple.
That is the Raw Deal of the situation.

Up until this point, Apple Corp. (formed by the Beatles, not to be confused with Apple Inc., the iTunes owner)... and Apple Inc. have been involved in many legal issues (most involving the fact Apple Inc took on the Apple name when Apple Corp believed they had it trademarked, etc)..
Apple Corp. has not wanted to have their songs digitized and sold for a number of reasons.. But there are many suggestions that it will be coming soon now that the lawsuits are being settled..
For right now, you can't buy their music other than on the physical media (cd's).. but it should be coming soon.

Probably because there are legal issues with the rights to the songs. Michael Jackson wanted to buy the rights to all of them, but lately Paul M. has been fighting back, etc etc - I'm willing to bet that or something like this is what's keeping the Beatles tunes off of iTunes.............

There's also been a history of disputes between Apple the computer company and Apple Records, the Beatles' recording company, over name rights and possible trademark violation . This all happened a while ago, but when Apple launched iTunes and got into the music selling business it spawned a new suit, etc, etc, etc. The simple answer is, however, that the Beatles (or their record company) haven't allowed it.

The Beatles record company was called "apple", so when apple computers was made, they made a deal that they wouldn't go into music. They did, so the beatles catalogue wasn't put on iTunes. But they are supposed to be putting some songs on there soon I heard.
Note: Michael Jackson sold the Beatles catalogue because he was so far in debt

Paul McCartney in his infinite wisdom sold the rights for almost all Beatle's song to Michael Jackson. This is why we see Beatle's songs in all sorts of TV and radio advertising.
Best guess would say that MJ does not feel like he profits enough from online music. If you want some Beatle's tunes, buy the CDs rip them and sync to the I-Pod or MP3.

iTunes and other music resellers have to have agreements with the record company to sell it's recordings. Apple records has a stranglehold on most Beatles recordings, and since there is still a demand for them they can make you buy the whole album. Sux.

Michael Jackson owns the rights to their music and he has to give permission to let them be downloaded.
