Fred Thompson, in a recent interview, asked the simple question:

How has America come this far, when American senators stand up in public and announce that the war is lost just to get more seats in the senate for his party...

Who was he talking about?

a) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
b) Aiman al-Zawahiri
c) Saddam Hussein al-Tikriti
d) Harry Reid

(I know this is a tough one, these men being so similar in character...)

Yes, Chi Guy, you got it. Um, but Steve beat you to it. Damn Yahoo server!

hypofocus: when I see a crater in southern Manhattan, I don't need ends or means.

I need to see the problem solved.

Reid does make some good point since Bush had more than 4 years with virtually unlimited power and support and couldn't get Iraq thing to work. He could have dump more resources into it earlier, but he just sat in WhiteHouse and watched.

How has America come this far, when American president stand up in public and announce that the war is won when there is obvious civil conflicts unfolding in Iraq right front of his face?

How has America come this far, when American president stand up in public and announce that a country(Iraq) has WMD based on just a single source(Curveball)?

GOPs tried scarying pants off people so they can get elected. Telling everybody if Democrats are in power we'll see another 911. Telling people Democrats sympatheize terrorists.

It's all politics. Craps like these come from both sides. And you just bought 'patriotism' craps from GOP. If you buy GOP's craps like that you're just as bad as democrats declaring 'war lost.' You're just a sucker like everyone else.

Bang your head on the wall all you want, but you'll still confuse ends with means and Iraq will still be a dismal failure that has nothing to do with stopping terrorism.

It is time to stop cheering war and burying the dead. It is time to stop handing widows neatly folded blood-stained triangles of cloth that sanitizes the truth of war. All of us, regardless of nation, are responsible. As long as we, as individuals, members of humanity, accept war as the solution to anything, war will continue. As long as we elect cowboy diplomats to be president the carnage will continue. As long as our loyalty to war prevails, war will remain prevalent. It is time to recognize that war is human failure and do something about it.
