I am just curious, because at my work, they do not give us breaks sometimes, or they will interrupt our break and tell us to come back in! Also, they ALWAYS make us stay later than we were scheduled (so...that means we work over 5 hours, because that is how many hours every minor is scheduled on a school night, if not more).

Alright, but at my work, it is a "law."

In Ontario, your employer would have to give you an unpaid 30-minute break after 5 hrs of work. If you are only scheduled to work 5 hours, they do not have to give you a break; however, if you are expected to stay later, they must give you the full 30 minutes.

If they don't, you can complain to the labour board, but it is best to have documentation in hand and the supporting statements (verbal or in writing) of the other workers who have been shafted. Your employer could receive a reprimand, can be fined, and you could be entitled to back-pay with the proper documentation, but that is only if you succeed.

The only exception to the break rule is when both you and your employer agree in writing to any changes to the rule.

most likely there are no consequence, and nothing will be accomplished by your complaining. 5-hours straight w/out breaks is no big deal. Find a better job, don't settle for less

Laws regarding work rules for minors vary by state, so it depends on where you live.

There is no federal law requiring breaks.
