There are two options for a healthy division of labor in a home: One, you both equally do them, broken up in a given time frame. Second, you or your wife could do them exclusively, then have the other take over a comparable task. I.E, you do the dishes and she does the laundry. I feel this is the best way as you are most likely to contribute in a way that is the most pleasant for you.

Where I come from the cook cooks and the people who eat was the dishes. If the cook offers to help then they help.

Who cooked? If she cooked then be sweet and do the dishes! If you cooked, ask her if the meal was good and tell her you're tired from sweating over the cook stove so she should do the dishes.
