Very well-done teen exploitation movie. Yeah, the "Warriors, come out and plaaaay" line was the most unforgettable line of the flick, except maybe the "B--u--u --c, buc, buc, b--u--u--c!"

...it was one of the first 'R' rated movies I went to see, when I was able to go without that wretched 'parental supervision"; I, too, remember the controversy, regarding theatres being dubious about playing the film, for fear of visiting gang members getting too roused up by the film. However, thinking back, when comparing the film to something a little more up-to-date, like the more realistic "Colors" , from 1988, "The Warriors" seems to come off much more like a comic book action/adventure/drama.

In fact, director Walter Hill had originally intended to impose a much more medieval comic book approach to the look of "The Warriors", even going so far as to transit from scene to scene, via comic-book-style panels.

Paramount originally released the VHS tape, and subsequently the DVD, using the original (and much more exploitive) theatrical print of the film; just last year, Paramount, in working with director Walter Hill, released a special edition director's cut of the film, re-imposing Walter's direct comic book approach to the film (panel transitions, and the lot).

The differences between the two films, make for slightly different cinematic tones and flow.

I watched the Warriors. It is one of my favorite movies becaus of the way it was filmed and how they really delved into the underground street life of the big cities. Great flick!

I own this movie on VHS and DVD. I can remember when gangs really did fight over turf, just like in the movie. Now, it's all about drugs, and too many civilians end up paying for it.

It is AWESOME!

I remember that it was banned in some theaters because gangs used to dress up like the gangs in the movie.

"Can you dig it?"
