No, if you use quality shadows (that will not appear chalky)
dark skinned girls (I am NW47 in MAc) can get away with those colors...big time.
And golds and bronzes are nice but geesh those are instant safe recs for us darker ladies. We can wear OTHER colors!
There are links below.
The color is a bit extreme but these are ads
Also, this a good site for m/u tips

I am dark skinned and I wear pink and green eyeshadow and I don't look clownish. Its all about finding the variation that works for you. My undertones are red, but I used a sheer kind of medium pink, I don't use a lot and it doesn't look loud at all. If I use a green, its more of a blueish green, and I used it lightly. I think as long as you're not useing neon colors and a lot of them, you'll be fine. I get so tired of people thinking that just because we are dark we should stick to neutral colors, what's the point of wearing make-up if no one can see it?

the trick is not to exceed your eyelid. if u do this u will always look great no matter what color u wear- if u wear a whole lot of eyeshadow to your eyebrows or above ur lid- then u will look tacky.
as far as darker skin tone- pastels i would think- would look hotter on than pale to light skin. ITS more noticable- just wear it right no matter what brands- bobbi brown/ or walmart stuff :)

Since there is no genetic marker for race - the markers are for melanin production and quite often the markers are tied to other traits. It is actually a pretty interesting and complicated question/answer. Eventually, that trait will not dominate but generations later, 2 people could have kids who have matching recessive traits that could bring it back out. The easiest way to see this is to look at eye color because the dominant/recessives are much easier to predict

Yes too bright makeup on african american women makes us look like clowns. I like sheer colors like pink, gold, blue, and green. Just subtle enough not to make me look crazy.

I don't think you'll look like a clown if you blend them right and wear things to match, I'm eastern And i love colors like that too, i thought i'd look like a clown also but as long as you don't over do it, like take the color to the brow you'll be okay

i actually do makeovers for MAC
& whenever girls with a darker skin tone ask for a bright pastel color,
i just show them what it looks like & they always decide to go for a diff. color .
I think Golds & Bronze colors look awesome on girls with darke skintones .
Maybe you should try those! [:
[Lighter pinks & green will look good on your skintone but stay away from HOTPINKS & Very bright greens [:
Dark green would look good too ! ]

I'm Native American, a medium olive tone, and those colors don't show up on me, so I doubt they will on you. Copper is my favorite eyeshadow, and bright white. Try a plush green as well, that shows nicely on darker skin.
