Yes. You absolutely should get a turtle. Without a doubt. Definitely.

I have no idea why...

Oh, oh.... so, when they die, they make really good ashtrays? You can play "spin the turtle" and make out with hot chicks? You can race them and feel good about yourself? You can use them to bring drinks to not very thirsty guests?

Are any of these working for you?

I currently have a bearded dragon and 5 turtles and my answer would be get another dragon. Although, turtles are great to watch they are not worth the amount of work it takes to keep their aquarium clean as well as keeping them healthy. Also, even though you can buy a turtle for 5 dollars the setup will definitely wind up costing you at least 150. They are little money suckers and are so dirty that without constant cleaning you can't enjoy them because of the smell.

Yes, I think you should. I have owned many Red Eared Slider Turtles and they are easy to take care of and mine are really entertaining. But you should get something that you could re-use the supplies for. The Lights and tank and everything from your dragon could be re-used and make it easier to create a new habitat. Make sure what you have now will be okay for the type of turtle you want.

Know what kind you want then do a little research. Is a turtle what YOU are looking for. Its not up to us to decide.

Actually, red-eared slider turtles (the ones from Chinatown) are only illegal if they are under 4 inches big. I bought a baby slider 6 years ago, and I still have her today. She's healthy and I have never had any issues with salmonella. I bought another slider 4 years ago at the pet store, hes much larger. They're both about the same size now, she grew pretty quickly. They can get as large as a dinner plate.

Turtles are not easy to care for, nor are they cheap. I've spent hundreds of dollars on tanks, filters, food, lamps, lighting fixtures, etc. Reptiles need a lot of accessories and food to be happy and healthy, and it gets costly. I don't suggest getting a turtle if you don't have the time or means to provide them with good husbandry.

I have 2, but they are illegal to sell in most states. I have red sliders, and bought them as tiny turtles in chinatown in NYC. While it is not legal to sell them in NY, you can get them in Chinatown. I do know that you won't find them in a pet shop (in those states).

The good is that they are somewhat easy to care for. They basically have the same tank/filtering requirements as a fish. They create a lot of waste, and they have been known to be carriers of salmonella. The danger there is to make sure that young kids dont carry them and then put their hands in their mouths.

They live a long time, and are interesting to watch. I love watching my turtles, It can be very therapeutic.

I think you should get one! Because there not to hard to take care of you don't have to watch them 24/7 like a dog to make sure it don't poop or pee in the house. I think you would be a good turtle owner

No. Spare the turtle the torture of your inability to care for animals. A slow starvation is just what all animals look forward to.

No, because a turtle is not very fun I think that you should get one of the animals listed; kitten, puppy, rabbit, ferret, or bird.

Well, do you have the time for it? Since you obviously are used to taking care of animals, why not? If it seems like a good idea to you, go for it!
