I'm considering using this for my company to allow work-from-home, but one concern is how it will impact the company's computer usage policy.

Right now, if someone checks personal email or uses instant messenger services, or worse, looks at porn at work, it's all blocked by the firewall and recorded at the server. Can someone with GoToMyPC installed on their work computer bypass the company firewall by accessing restricted sites or restricted software on their home computer remotely?

I read their stuff on the website and it notes that USAGE can be monitored (i.e. when they logged in, files transferred, etc) but what about what they view or access at their work terminal through their home computer? I tested it and was able to access my instant messenger programs and shopping sites from behind our company's firewall (which would have normally blocked such activity), so I know it CAN be done, but can the administrator monitor or detect such abuses?

Well GoToMyPc is simply a VPN connector to your computer at work. If you are connected it should be exactly as if you are in your office basically because you are remotely running that computer. (yes the admins can tell that and what you do etc)

The firewall is probably getting by passed by using your local internet connection but the activity is still on your remote machine.

You wont bypass the blocks, as its really just 'monitoring' your work pc.

If you are using the software at home, you have already have internet, so you just do what you like, whats inside the 'remote' screen has nothing to do with your home pc.

Admin can log and monitor anything as long as they know what they are doing.

So, you pick organizations to lose money? All those pension money would lose fee. both way, you would *****. if you're questioning the organizations might want to take all their salary and commence passing the money out to the unfavorable, then you actually are incorrect. That seems the liberal mantra, even though it solves no longer something. you'll not in any respect eliminate poverty. And, the further money you throw on the unfavorable, the further they reproduce. Now, you've even extra unfavorable human beings and no money to take care of them. the present economic climate is unclear. My organisation and others that i'm linked with are operating with as little fee as achievable. they're doing no new progression, shedding workers, and entering "harvest mode". They search for to benefit off of modern-day products as long as achievable. No new progression, till all progression fee is paid for with the help of a shopper.
