..and that is why people have premonitions?... Makes sense right? they effect people for years after, so doesn't it seem possible that some of the energy could spill over into the time before?

Well, think about waves... they are made of energy, and they travel out in all directions... doesn't it make sense that the "waves" from this event travel in all directions through time.. so wouldn't an event that has a big impact in the time "after it" have some sort of effect in all of the time around it?

smeagel... I like the last sentence in your answer, but in your introduction you not only wrongly suggested that I definitely view time as linear but also made a claim yourself: "time is not linear"... so, maybe you could stop being a hypochrit first of all and follow the words in the end of your own message.

Actually, that would make a lot of sense.
If time is indeed a direction or a fourth dimension (which I believe), then it would make perfect sense that energy would be capable of moving through time. And maybe the kind of wave it sends can be picked up by the human body the way we receive and interpret light, so we can get a feeling of what it is. That would suggest that the waves are caused by strong emotions, which seems likely considering how premonitions tend to go.

I suppose that tragic events would indeed do that, and maybe joyful ones too, in a different way. It would be fascinating to investigate! And the theory doesn't violate any rules of reality that I know of.

And darn it, Gene, why did you have to post such a cynical opinion again? Obviously the asker is not focusing on premonitions but on the possiblity of energy moving through time and even YOU would be blind to deny that it's a possibility.

Yes, energy ripples as you call it go in all directions. Catastrophic events happen when there is too much negative thought process involved be a group of people. This group could be a nation, a community or a state of being in a particular place. The negative thoughts attracts more such thoughts to it and multiplies. When it reaches a certain density it forms a catastrophe. The catastrophe is usually the opposite of the negative thought process, to balance it out.

Time is not linear. Yes, you can feel what is to come in the future. Most people who predict can not zero it down to a date. That is why most predictions are thought out to be false. No one waits to see results which might occurs 5 years from the time of prediction. It is only after the event that they realize that they had a inkling of it in advance.

People who have premonitions are doing one of three things:
1-pretending to see the future in order to persuade an individual or individuals to behave in a desired manner.
2-Making a wild guess based on popular demand.
or 3-Making a prediction based on patterns and observed behavior.
A catastrophic event can't send ripples backward in time. It will have an effect from the moment it happens but not prior to. The effect years after is people's memory of the incident.
Since you use waves and energy to explain this "energy ripple" you need to obey all the laws associated with waves.
You said that "waves travel out in all directions", much like waves in a pond from dropping a pebble. So if there were a catastrophic wave traveling in one direction (of time) there would have to be one of equal magnitude in the other direction (of time). So 30 minutes before the catastrophe would be just as devastating to the subjects involved as 30 minutes after the event.

Not at all..premonitions are coincidences or us fine tuning what we remember going through our heads to match the event. If there was such a thing, 9/11 and the tsunami ofa few years ago would never have been such tragedies.

No time before..Used up energy rotation in Relative time.

Past time is fictional, Spent carbon energy as far planets and used time...(No Back in time travel possible )

"back" through time? time isn't linear - humans just perceive it that way - it's a nebulous web of existentialism. ;)

anybody who says they know the answer to this question is not as smart as they think they are. there is infinitely more that we don't do than we do know.

i think that is possible, but i dont think it really happens, and even if it does, i dont think that it causes premonitions, maybe it causes deja vu
