okay im 14 & i really need some money. idk why but i just feel worthless by keep asking my parental units 4 $$$$

so i was gonna try 2 work at this new ice cream/coffee/pastries place that i could literally walk 2 from my house

should i try 2 get a job there?
the owner said that employees that r 16 or younger need someone atleast 18 to work w/ them.
w/e i could handle this right?
i mean this would be in the summer so i wouldnt have 2 worry about school but im gonna try 2 do pom (great sport! i love it!) 4 my high school team-- try-outs in 11 days! im nervous!----- so that would interfear(i know thats spelled wrong...)

so what do u think? id be probably better off babysitting or mowing lawns and stuff like that but i think this might be good 4 me! my 1st actual work experience!

so should i try it out?
tell me what ud do or what u think i should do.

If you really want to try the ice cream place then go for it, but I think it may be tough since you're only fourteen and you're going to be active in your school sports. However, I dont know about other states, but I know in NJ you technically have to be fifteen to start wroking somewhere, and you can only work three hours a day, and you can't work more than five days? Something like that. I think your best bet would probably be babysitting. I know it sounds lame, but it's easy. You should do something like get CPR and First Aid certified so you can charge more too, and the parents of the children you're babysitting will trust you more, and be willing to pay a little bit more knowing that their children are in safe hands. Good luck!

I know where you are coming from with the age of 14 and not being able to find a good job. I'm 21 and trying to find a job for the longest time after College was practically impossible. It was always "you need a couple more years of college..." or "Do you have any experience in this area...?"...Ugh! Anyways, KEEP TRYING to get that job that you want. PROVE to him or her that you can do it. Have them give you a "TEST RUN" of maybe a week and see how it goes. Give them good references, OUTSIDE OF THE FAMILY. With family references it doesn't look as good. Have you babysat in the past? Mowed lawns? Paper route? Washed cars? Those would work as references..LAME..I know! But trust me..its a start!! GOOD LUCK!! :o)

I think it sounds okay. I mean if you really need the money. I didn't start working until I was 18, but then again, I wasn't worried about money. Of course, laws may vary with each state (if you live in the U.S.), and you may not get enough hours to make that much. But just be careful! Being a young lady, you have to be cautious about the guys you work with.
You may look 18 to them, and they might try to take advantage of you.

In some states you can have a form signed by your parents and school councilor saying you can work when your 14 and 15......Check the laws in your state for this, and then if its legal you can get the form from your councilor.

I think it would be okay if you worked only one or two days a week during the summer and only one day a week (weekend) during school months. You don't need a lot of money, just some spending stash. Working 8 hours would give you 35 or 40 dollars and that should be enough for you for now. You are young... you have the rest of your life to work and believe me, once you are an adult and HAVE to work, you will appreciate these years... years you are not working but just having fun like a kid should have.

The only thing I know is start making money, cause one day you will leave your parents, and they raised you and you just leave them! So try to stand on your own don't ask parents for money, and work if you can!
