Freedom of the press in fine. But on the news film it's clear the news reporters were in the line of fire and didn't move away. They went deeper into the trouble.

News reporters normally have a certain privilege not granted to the general public, such as the privilege of entering disaster areas or other restricted areas to cover the news for the public. However, when they are at serious risk or actually hindering police efforts, the privilege does not apply. It seems that events today may be in a gray area; I'll reserve judgment for the moment.

Reporters and police usually cooperate with one another. I don't know what NEWS footage YOU were watching , but it sure looked to me like the police were being intimidating to Telemundo, Fox and other press reporters. Why does the LA Police Dept always over-react to protest situations where visible minorities and press are? Aren't they being watched over by the FBI or other enforcement officers because of numerous violent over-reactions since 2000?

MOST reporters follow police orders...it's the stupid one's hiding by their first amendment rights to hide sources and crossing lines that make the most news.

what news film are you talking about? but anyway, reporters KNOW that they aren't above police orders, but they do what they want anyway, to get the better shot, story, etc.
