Odds are good that it's breeding activity, especially if you have done a water change in the last few days. They may just be playing though. If it is breeding activity, they will begin to dash around the bottom and through any plants in the tank as they scatter their eggs. They will not protect the eggs and in fact will eat them as fast as they can find them. A special tank with plenty of protection for the eggs needs to be used to breed danios.

It could be that they are breeding, with the females being heavy looking they may be ready to lay their eggs. If this is the case you should notice soon that the female will stay around any rocks or other decor in you tank looking for a safe place to lay the eggs. After they are layed they will hatch in about 48 hours. But it might just be them playing also. Zebra Danios are incredibly active and enjoy playing in the tank. They don't ever seem to stand still, It is just in their nature.
