We are replacing drop in range with free standing and have to remove the cabinet box below. It is too tight for a jigsaw or circular saw. Will a sawzall cut it smooth enough? Will we be able to do it ourselves or should we have a cabinet maker do it???
Thanks
Cyndi

The oven has been removed-there are cabinets on both sides and formica countertop. I need to cut out the box (which was under the range) but the plywood runs all thru the entire bottom of that wall of cabinets..so I need to use a saw that can cut right up against the wall of the cabinets, to get it out. Then cut about 1 inch off the formica countertop and the new range will fit. I just dont know what is the best tool to use.

I think you can't do it with yourself. Is it a built-in furniture? If it is,you need furniture maker to cut it and paint color.I can help you but I stay in Thailand, send me a ticket?

Ok, here we go, first, do you have cabinets on both sides of the cabinet you want removed? if so then first remove the cook top and if it rests on some type of counter top, remove this to. Now with the top of cabinet exposed you will see that it has been screwed to the wall(or nailed) remove these screws or nails then remove the cabinet doors. Now look at the ''stile'' the door hinges were screwed to and you should see screws that fasten this cabinet to the cabinets on both sides, remove these screws and the cabinet should pull straight out.hope these instructions help you.P.S. If the cook top is installed in a counter top that covers a row of base cabinets then you will have to remove the entire counter top. Then I recommend, if that's the case, to get a new counter top to accommodate your new free-standing oven/range.
