These are high school kids raised by a generation of people born in the late 50s, 60s, and early 70s.
Most kids today have parents who partied all thru the 70s and 80 and 90s. What do you expect?

Look at how much America and the world have just deteriorated in our lifetimes. I was born in the late 50s.
All thru the 60s till today, I have seen technology change, the economy go up and down, witnessed record breaking inflation, the decline of social interaction other than computer boards like this, watched as the government pretty much has allowed huge corporations steal peoples savings, pentions and homes and leaving a deficit that will end most social security programs in this country within the next 15 years.
What do these kids have to look forward to?

If you are under 60 right now, you will never be able to retire.
EVER.
We get to work till the day we die.

Also, UNIONS go on strike and you are out of work for an indefinite length of time. If you don't have a good savings account or another income, depending on the length of the strike, you may end up on a line at the food-bank too.

No matter how you see it, it is not a rosey picture for our futures. It scares the crap out of me.

Everyone knows the world didn't start until they were born! This is just being a kid.. I don't think the whole world is so bad. If you live within your means you can still retire. I am retired from one job and work part time and I am only in my mid 50's.

As far as the last part on the Union rant. They were needed in their heyday. I just think that day is pretty much gone. Everyone is responsible for their own life financially as well. People complain about what CEO's get paid. Check to see what your Union BA is getting counting all the perks. I was forced to be in 3 different Unions and all they ever did for me was take my dues and I actually got reduced raises and bennies. If it works for you fine. Just didn't work for me.

It's called youth. You yourself at one time had no idea of Social Issues. I'm rather lost with the last of your statement so shall end here.
