cuz when its raining they can drown, and in life you kinda want to survive....

They take shelter from the blow of raindrops, the surge of the water, and sometimes the rising flood of rain. (A worm is not technically a bug but they come out in a rain because their tunnels become flooded and they move to drier land, which sadly in a lot of times is cement.) Other bugs take shelter because they are attuned to movement, color or noise, and the rain confuses them. And still others, like bees don't go out because the flower is either closed or the pollen is damp. If you watch a hive or a wasp's nest, you'll see them send out one or two scouts (they probably drew the short straw) to make sure nothing harms their dwelling and to let the others know when the rain stops. The first bug out after a rainstorm: the mosquito.

umm.... its raining. maybe they don't like getting wet either. flying bugs can almost certainly not fly. their wings would get wet.
