I just bought a building that has a ton (maybe literally) of coal left in the basement. I'm wondering how much it is worth. Thanks!

It depends on the type of coal. A couple of years ago, coal out of the Powder River Basin was selling a good deal lower than $30 a ton, but shipping it by rail to the powerplants in the East was more costly than the coal itself. It;s likely the reason the coal is still in that house is that it would cost much more to get it out of the basement than it would ever sell for, especially if it is wet or dirty.
