I know at first they will become more prominent, but they can't just keep getting darker. At any point will my freckles get to their maximum darkness so the rest of my skin can catch up?

Laying out will actually give you more freckles and sunspots. Maybe try using a sunless tanner (there are TONS out there) or get airbrushed. That might balance out your skin and make freckles seem less prominent.

If your freckles get to maximum darkness (which they will becaause they are just spots of concentrated pigment) you don't want the rest of your skin to catch up! And if you lay out in the sun that much you'll have super attractive blotches of skin cancer and the scars from having them removed. Just love your freckles, because they make you YOU.

Sorry, Sammm, your freckles are there for good. Your skin won't catch up with them, however much you lie in the sun. (It might feel like it's caught fire, though, if you lie there too long).
As you get older, you'll find that freckles attract males like honey attracts bees (or meat attracts flies - it depends on the male). The old saying "if you've got it, flaunt it" applies here, so make use of your freckles! The advantage is yours.

I think that your freckles will always remain darker than your skin, but freckles are beautiful, you shouldnt try to hide your beauty. Tanning is only tempoary so definally protect yourself from the sun! You dont want skin cancer!! Take care

no no no no no and no!
if you lay in the sun they will ALWAYS show up more than regular skin. they already have more pigment and will darker further, your skin will darken too but it will never be as dark.
don't do it, unless in the long run you REALLY want prominent freckles

I don't recommend trying that. My mom is freckled all over, and when she lays outside to tan, she winds up brown with greenish dots (from the freckles getting darker).

Take it from one who knows....noooo they never blend in..they get darker and darker and become the wellknown 'age spots' as you get older. Same goes for tanning beds, they are the worst for making freckles. Sun is very very hard on your skin.

No. Your skin color will never match the color of your skin. You will get skin damage from trying to do that and just darker freckles.

My mother tried for years to do that. Typically she only got more freckles. They never join.
