should the nfl have a powerful players union like baseball's union?

I for one don't like a salary cap or revenue sharing, but the reason I have a problem is they treath their retire players like crap. currently retired players from the 60's and 70's get 200 dollars a week not enough for them to cover their medical bills they receive from all those injuries if playing football.while in the nba they have a 50,000 dollar pension and MlB has a 175,000 doolar pension. shouldn't the nfl help some of the players that helped build the NFL. now you might not like the MLB union or structure but they care for old time palyers better than any other league. is just sad seeing people like Dick Butkus have to try to get his fellow players more money for pension by sending letters to all owners and only get two responses.

If it wasn't for revenue sharing alot of small market teams wouldn't be around, like Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Denver, Green Bay, If it wasn't for revenue sharing all the teams would be in Chicago, New York and LA. The salary cap is a good thing it keeps the rich owner from snatching up all the good players, it would be like the Yankees in baseball, I would hate to see just one team win the super bowl every year, and football players contracts arnt guaranteed, so if they are a bust you can get rid of them. And yes Football needs to do something for there older players. It is a shame that they will not pay the medical bills for players in the 60's and 70's who played for the love of the game and not the money.

They do have a strong players union, it's just that most NFLPA members don't know the game's history, traditions, or care about the players from earlier eras and the struggles they had to put the current players wages and benefits where they are now. . Most of the current crop of NFL players are too stupid and just care about themselves.
