Switzerland, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Denmark are all examples of successful socialist governments. They still have the same freedoms we enjoy here and enjoy a higher standard of living than we do.

Leaving the USA out of it, are there any Conservative countries that can say the same?

By successful, I mean, as I thought I indicated above, countries that enjoy the same freedoms we do and at least the same standard of living.

I can't think of any countries that are conservative and enjoy the same freedoms and standard of living that we do here in the United States. That doesn't mean it's not POSSIBLE.

It depends on what you consider to be "conservative", and what your benchmark is for success.

Luxembourg and Ireland are ranked in the top 5 countries by GDP per capita, and they are both among the top 10 countries for economic freedom (ranked by the conservative Heritage Foundation).

The government of Hong Kong embraced free-market principles and had minimal intervention in people's lives, and until the Chinese took over it was a very successful society. Singapore is similarly successful. While these countries do not rank quite as high as the nations of Western Europe, they were near the bottom only 50 or 60 years ago.

I don't know any... and the U.S. has MANY social programs... welfare, medicaid, medicare, social security, public schools and many more...

and the new deal (a plan of huge social programs) marked the time when we saw our greatest early economic growth...

so we're fairly liberal...and have had great success on the heels of liberal programs...

I think successful means... "somewhere you would want to live"...

Your definition of "successful" seems to be "still breathing".

There are a lot of conservative governments in the world, and they're not necessarily styled by American conservatism.

Almost all middle eastern governments are conservative. Japan, the Philippines, most of Central and Latin America has governments that are more right wing than left (by our standards).

My kids use this site and your name is offensive and juvenile. You're going to preach to us when you've given yourself a moniker that only an immature teenager would use?

I'm sorry, but that's pathetic.
