As a West Indian, you have no idea it pains me to say this, but the best player at this year's world cup was definetly Glenn McGarth. He bowled exceptionally well, honestly I wasn't expecting him to perform so well but yet he did.
I'm so glad he's retired now, he tormented WI players for too long.

I feel that giving McGrath man of the tournament was a bit of a cop out... yes i know that he did take a record 26 wickets but that was in a total of 11 games (more than any other world cup) which when u look at it is only 2.36 wickets per game. I know it seemed fitting for a marvellous career but this award is not a celebration of a career, it is an award that should go to the BEST player of the tournament...
For me, when i think of this world cup, only one man's name comes to mind and that is Matthew Hayden. To average over 73 over 11 games is a feat just short of incredible. They say that scoring a century is the equivalent of taking a five-wicket haul. Hayden scored three centuries (all against test playing nations) and Glenn McGrath didn't once take five wickets in a match.

best player in the world cup should be glenn mcgrath no doubt. I mean if you can get 26 wickets when the world cup is favored for batsmen more, thats incredible. He really bowled well throughout the tournament and one of the reasons why Australia was so dominant in the world cup.

Due to the small grounds favouring batsmen I'd have to say Glenn McGrath. His 26 wickets and taking over the mantle as the most successful bowler ever at Cups is the proof!

however Mcgrath deserved to b the player of the tournament as he did sum exceptionally gud job 4 his age whihc most veterans failed to do
he was a fine bowler n the aussies must b proud of having him in the team
