My bf is entering a golf tournament and the prize if you hit a hole in one is a 2008 mustang convertible...so what's his odds?

Very low, the tournament buys an insurance policy, for a prize like that, the policy costs about $500. The company determines the fee based on the likelihood of SOMEONE (72 average players) hitting a hole in one ON THAT HOLE (plus a profit). I would guess 1 in 100 to 1 in 1000 on any given hole (but remember, he odds are different for duffers vs. good golfers vs pros). Hey, but it's a lot of fun and a lot more likely than winning a lottery.

The odds are virtually impossible. It is a very rare occurrence, mostly pros...although very good golfers have a better shot...even more rare when there is a "prize" attached.

If your boyfriend is using that as the reason he is paying the money and entering...he'd be better off taking that money and buying lottery tickets...the odds are probably about the same.
