At one table, there are four people, so there is one person per side. If you put all the tables together, there are 10 north sides, 10 south sides, 1 east side, and 1 west side, or 22 sides, so 22 people can sit down.

from what i understand of the way you asked the question, each side of a table can seat one person, correct?
If so, then the table can sit a max of 22 people.

3*2 = 6

2 people at each interior table
2*8 = 16

6+16=22 people seated
