The truth is the Romans gave us BATTLE TACTICS and SOCIAL STRUCTURE ONLY, everything else that people mistakenly credit to the Romans was stolen from other conquests...They didn't invent much of anything, except reinventing "Divine right," if another country or city had something innovative, they transplanted that idea into "Roman Ingenuity," and if the people using that idea were burned alive, who would be the wiser?

There are lots of things that they developed that we have improved upon. Just like there are things they took from the Greeks and improved upon.

But I believe the number one thing we have today thanks to the Romans is much of our vocabulary.

For instance, their word - insula. Ours - island
They had two words trans and porta - meaning across and carry. We put them together for transportation - meaning carry across.

So many of our words (and a few other languages) come from Latin, that when people say it is a dead language, they are incorrect. That is what my Latin teacher told us many times.

as adversarial to what you have stated, the OT (or Tanakh to us Jews) does describe the regulation as being a direction to righteousness for the Jewish human beings. See Deut. 6:20-25 (quite verse 25). in lots of familiar Christian translations, "righteousness" in specific is asserted as being the end results of adherence to the regulation. Even "Messianic Jews" (whether i'm no longer Messianic), the two have confidence in J.C. and cling to the regulation. As is asserted by the Tanakh, the rustic of Israel has at situations struggled to stick to the regulation. To on the present time, we each and every from time to time conflict, yet do our suited. yet, in step with the recent covenant defined in Jeremiah 31, Hashem has promised to collect the Jews back to the Promised Land (that's already in progression) and foretells a time while he will make a sparkling covenant in specific with the properties of Israel and Judah that involves Him putting the regulation on our hearts and minds so as that we are going to no longer would desire to instruct our pals (or study ourselves) what the regulation is and could constantly be smitten by faithfully adhering to it (Jeremiah 31:31-34). i do no longer see the Christian version of the recent covenant being meditated interior the previous passage. I instead word that G-d needs the Jewish u . s . to stick to His regulation. All this being stated, i can in actual fact comprehend your attitude. I certainly have definitely no opt to alter your ideas, basically be conscious of that the Jewish human beings have good motives for believing what we do. The Jewish human beings take super exhilaration in adhering to Adonai's regulation.

Sanitation systems would be my number one idea ... a fresh water supply from their aqueducts and a way to flush away our waste products.

Next in line would be the arch, the rounded structural arch, I mean, how could St. Louis build their arch without the Romans? third in line would be their roads ... paved and nice and straight.
