Remember that secx = 1/cosx. Apply the FOIL method:

(1-cosx)(1+secx)

= 1 + secx - cosx - 1

= secx - cosx

= 1/cosx - cosx

= (1 - cos^2x)/cosx

= sin^2/cosx

= (sinx)(tanx)

secx = 1/cosx→
(1-cosx)(1+1/cosx)....Multiply the means & extremes:

1+1/cosx -cosx-1 = secx-cosx

Multiply first

1 - cosx + secx - cosxsecx

secx = 1/cosx

1 - cosx + 1/cosx - 1

-cosx + 1/cosx

1/cosx - cosx

1/cosx - cos^2x/cosx

(1-cos^2x)/cosx

sin^2x/cosx

I'm not sure where they want you to go with this.
