I have a decent size spathiphyllum. I water and fertilize (nitrogen based liquid fertilizer) regularly and it generally looks happy, but I can't remember the last time it produced a flower.

Anything I can do to encourage it? Should I be worried?

Thanks for your input.

No worries. They like to be rootbound to flower. Give it time to fill the pot or replant in a slightly smaller one and it should flower.

Everyone always says they have the biggest spathiphyllum. Most of the time they say it's like 9" and it ends up only about 6" tops.

And no, you should be under no pressue to encourage your spathiphyllum to produce flowers. Some do it early in life, some later. There really is no "normal" time for your spathiphyllum to produce flowers. In fact, as long as you don't encourage it too often, and water and fertilize it...like you say you do, then if it looks happy, it is happy.

Actually, even though my spathiphyllum is only average in size, it has never produced flowers at all. Which is fine with me. When I get to a point in my life that I want flowers in my life, then I'm sure my spathiphyllum will come through and produce them.

Don't be in a big hurry to produce flowers from your spathiphyllum. Life is too short and you are young...spend some time enjoying life and sow some wild oats before you settle down with someone and use your spathiphyllum to produce flowers.

High nitrogen fertilizers produce lots of leaves but not many flowers. You need to get a fertilizer with a high middle number for it to produce blooms.

Hi, I would quit worring about it . I have one also, it sits in the bay window. I do nothing to it but give it water, and it is constantly in bloom. Maybe it needs more sun? Maybe some more humidity,I just remembered it's in with my orchids, and two water humidifiers. Try putting a bowl full of water, and some pebbles under it That will raise the humidity. Bye

wow just get it into a bigger pot so it can spreed well and may be your fertilize is too much because too much of it make plants grow fast but not well.
