80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Life to me is just a schoolroom.
The study is hard and the exams can be daunting.
WE are all here to learn, not to have a holiday, hence why I can understand the need for both "good and evil".
Nature is wonderful. The trees the ocean my meditation. It can also be a nightmare if things go wrong. You can love someone with so much passion, then it can be shattered with the silliest thing. Life is understanding the good, bad and indifferent and appreciating the need for all to find balance.
Age is wearisome, but the other side of the coin is the wise gain wisdom with age.

It doesn't have to mean a thing. So long as I'm alive and making my own decisions, there is no huge meaning and purpose to life.
Think about this: we're set apart from chimpanzees with our idea to speculate about what life means, but what if the only reason that we think there is meaning is because we look for reason because we aren't monkeys?
To be simpler: there is no great meaning that I can perceive other than a human need to discover meaning. (even where there is none.)

Life to me is that walk in the woods, that cry my daughter has, the scratchy face I get after 24 hours, that knocking sound in my car, the cd that skips because my daughter used the cd as a discus, my never-ending quest for a bag of Swedish Fish, the taste of my wife's lips, that new Kings of Convenience or Sigur Ros cd, that annoying sound my alarm makes, the idea of new opportunities, that cleansing breath, answering this question.
Thanks, good one.

life is a mystery to me sometimes because you never really know where it might take you. life is a experience that people have a lot experience on because they have lived for a very long time. for some it's short, troubling, hard,or a life-changing affect. for me life is experiencing the unknown and known and living life to the fullest and never looking back always ahead!

Life is an opportunity for me to explore my spirituality and see it manifest before me in terms that I can handle. Sometimes this is extremely uncomfortable, but for the most part, it is an enjoyable experience.

I think that life is a tool of the universe to enable it to give itself awareness .
We are the consciousness and the eyes and ears of the universe.
