If you are referring to the first printing, I believe the cover is meant to be an ambigram of the title (words the read the same up-side-down) and a depiction of Rome.

There is an edition of Angels and Demons that has a picture of the Vatican city on the cover

There are several different covers as they have been reproduced. I believe the newest one is has in big letters, DAN BROWN
ANGELS
&
DEAMONS
and then a small picture of a cathedral and an outline of a man running.
