piqued my interest. The thought of loosing patients is mainly what's discouraging me from the field of medicine, that kind of emotional stress is not something I would probably want on a regular basis. I am highly intelligent, and very very interested in quantum physics and astrophysics. I don't honestly know if I am any good at math though, I make excellent grades in everything, so picking one area to study is, I guess, just up to my preference. Any insights into the fields of science and working in them? I am not crazy about doing formula's all day long, but I do love being in labs. Any suggestions on an area to focus on? Please ask questions if you like, I need the help desperately!!

If it's really just fear of losing patients, just stay away from oncology, geriatrics, and emergency medicine. But if an aversion to losing patients motivates you, then become an excellent doctor and think of those you are helping to save. There's a frenzy of work going on in quantum physics, string theory, gravitation, and cosmology. But they are all very heavy on the math. Try to prepare broadly and delay making that choice as long as you can. There's not a simple question whose answer would make that choice for you.

You could always look into engineering. There are a ton of different engineering fields including biomedical which looks at making prostetics and other things dealing with the human body. There is a fair amount of math to get your engineering degree but depending on what you do, you won't have to use it much after graduation.
