In order to feel enriched you need to get involved with others.
Make things that you can give away to others:
Baked goods
Quilts
Blankets
Booties (great for nursing home residents)
Gardening Vegetables
Another thing to do is call "shut-ins" on the phone who desperately need to talk with others. Or write cards and letters. Ask a local senior citizen group for references.

I"m a stay at home mom too and I HAVE to work outside, it keeps me going. The fresh air and sun and being somewhere other than inside the same ol house! Personally, I find that although I'm not one to volunteeringly get dirty (all we do is clean and prevent dirtiness!) I gotta go for it! rake up dirt and plant grass! Clear a spot and lay down pavers (surprisingly simple)! Plant a big veggie garden (with the kiddos)! These are things I suggest because A) they get the endorphines going B) They're big jobs you can really be proud of, and hubby will be amazed what a woman you are C) the gratification, it looks good, even if it's not growing yet! and, most importantly, the pride keeps coming all through the season D) things to grow keeps you busy in the backyard all season, weeding, pruning, cutting, gathering food for the dinner. Herb gardens in containers won't give you gratifying work all season.

I asked my wife about this. This is what she said:
I Totally Relate! The thing I did that was of most help to me is to make lists of things that I could do to keep myself entertained. The gardening is a great idea, I didn't know anything about it either, but I find the people at the nursery where I buy my plants very helpful. Start by just mowing the lawn and pulling weeds. That will be more than enough to keep me entertained. I found that I got housework (big bore) done quicker, because it was at the top of the list, but I try to make sure there are fun things on there too. It helps to put music on or try to make a game of it. Most of what I do I do with kids around, but try to find someone you can swap babysitting with, and get out alone sometimes, even if it is just to the grocery store. It breaks the monotony. (Warning: if you are bored because nothing interests you, or if you feel like you hate your SAHM jobs, you may want to consider the idea of depression. Probably not you, but I've BTDT.)

Id start an herb garden..if your a home maker you can always use some fresh herbs..and they can be gifted at a later time also. You can make oils with them too! I started mine in small pots the seeds with a potting soil mixture..then planted them later inot the ground around my oak tree roots and mulched them. They are just outside my kitchen and I can see them from my diing room table which is nice.Growing something and being able to use it in a creation makes you feel good. I get bored too.I usually spend alot of time outdoors gardening.I think it makes your day nice to be in nature.Have fun.Life is so short and try to do something differnt and also at the same time productive.

You are right, this is a great time of the year to be out in the garden our to start a garden. Since you are on the Internet, there are many fine websites that will give you starter information on gardening, or any other interests you may have. You can check out our website at-
http://www.gardening-at-the-crossroads.com/
If you are interested in possibly starting your own website, something to do in the winter months, click on the "Powered by Site Build It" button at the very bottom of the page and you can find out more about starting your own business.

If gardening is your passion, then just buy a book and get started. You can get all the instructions you need online.
Set up a routine, to keep yourself busy, throughly clean a room a day, and then you can devote your time on something you enjoy. good luck with the plantings.
