I really like the name Jolie (it means pretty in French) for a girl, but when I ask anyone if they like it they say "no" or "it's a last name" so I'm kinda torn about it. What should I do, go with my heart or just pick another name?

I like the name Jolie, it's different, not something you hear everyday you now. I think it sounds beautiful, kinda exotic. (and it means "Pretty") and what girl wouldn't want a name that meant "Pretty" :) good luck with your decision!

People are so funny. It's not a last name - Jolie is popular because it is Angelina Jolie Voight's MIDDLE NAME. And it was a classic and lovely French name long before Angelina Jolie was famous. So if it makes you happy, you should go with it.

I really like the name. You should not let people put you down about it. I mean it is not a last name! I've never heard anyone with the last name Jolie. Anyway I like it!

I think its REALLY pretty for a first name. Almost wish i was having a girl now!
BTW the only reason ppl say its a lastname is becuase Angelina Jolie but thats it.

I think its a great name. For those people who are saying its a last name to you, they're probably thinking of Angelina Jolie. And its not her last name, its her middle name, she just moved it around.

Jolie is not my style, but if you like it, go for it. You're opinion (and the baby's dad's opinion) are the only one's that matter.
