There are a few professional softball leagues, both men's and women's. My former high school baseball coaches both played in a pro league. As far as not being "major league," as was said there is a relatively small market for that. It's all about marketing and advertising. Major pro sports franchises are expensive to operate. There are just too many costs involved for any of the existing leagues to go major. Unless they somehow get major corporate backing and a TV deal, like Arena football now has, they will never exist on anything more than a "minor" or semi-pro level.

There are some Major League Softball teams. Arizona, Chicago, Cali, and few other places have some great teams, however, funding and sponsors make it hard to get national viewing of some awsome girls. Google it and I'm sure you will find some more info! Jennie Finch is the bomb!!!!
