They also support corporate welfare. They blindly follow Bush no matter how many people he kills or how many of our civil liberties are taken away. We would have civil war if we tried to spend 8 billion in America trying to better the lives of children with food, medical care and education.

It could be because the kinds of social programs you're probably talking about have been consistently failing for the last 70 years. Or, it might be because maintaining a strong military presence in the middle east is vital to stratetic interests.

But, it's more likely because the Democrats have staked out the 'social programs/anti-war' platform, and you don't get anywhere in politics by paroting the oposition.

It's not that we don't support social programs for the betterment of Americans... it's that we know that such social programs are much better run and much more effective at the state, local, and private level.

That's why Republicans regularly contribute about two to three times more of their income to charitable programs than Democrats do.

Both parties want those social programs. Democrats want them run by the government, Republicans want them run by the private groups.

Why do Democrats want me to be responsible for the lazy people in our Country who refuse to work a 40 hour week and take care of their own. could it be because the Democrats keep offering my money to them?

Because in Iraq, at least there is a hope of success and a return on our investment. Handing more and more money to lazy people in our own country has done nothing but create MORE people with their hand out! No more money down that hole, thank you!

Government giveaways to deadbeats is never a good idea. At least the Iraqis are not standing around with their hands out waiting for their next meal from the federal teat.
