Yes you can do it when the baby is just a few weeks old. It is more of a personal choice. You can wait and see if your child actually wants them or not but generally people do it within the first couple of months of the babies birth.
Here's some info on it:

That's horrible. Someone asked a question in newborn and baby about if they could get their 6 month baby's ears pierced. I truly don't understand it?! Why would you put your baby through that pain? It doesn't 'look good' it has no medical purpose - it really should be illegal up to a sensible age. If a child can choose to do it then by all means with parental consent then why not, but a baby?! I had my ears pierced for my 9th birthday - I asked and my Mum paid a premium to go to a more expensive place (definately NOT claires!) to make sure that the person doing it was qualified and the equipment clean. I have no other piercings, and don't want any more - I don't really like them, except ears. I can't imagine wanting to do that to my little one. He's a boy so it's very unlikely anyway, but I wouldn't do it to a little girl either - it's just so wrong!

I think it's a pretty good idea to wait until the child is old enough to decide. Not that it's expensive, but go spend the money on something else.

I tend to agree with you more than your husband, however, a child might be old enough to ask, and not old enough to make a mature decision. I say wait long enough for the child to ask you for permission to have it done, at that point the decision and consequences are theirs.

Everyone is different. I was 27 when i got mine done(fear of needles..lol)
My neice got hers pierced at 2yrs old.
Some parents do them when younger....But Id be afraid she would tug at them, and also the after care is important, so they dont get infected.
I would say, in MY opinion, wait until you feel comfortable.
6 weeks is a bit early.....If he wants her ears pierced, wait until shes 6 months...

I think the younger you get it done they less painful it will be, my daughter got her ears piered at age 3 months and she didnt cry or anything, but ome of her earings fell out at age four and they closed on her so she got it pired again at the same place and it hurt soooo bad for her

im no expert but i got mine pierced when i was 6 weeks old. if you get them when the baby is younger than they dont have to remember it. also if they really dont like their ears pierced [although thats not likely] they can always let the holes close up.

I got my ears peirced when i was only 3 months old. The younger you get them peirced, the better cuz when children tend to grow, their cartiglge in their ear becomes stronger, so therfore, that woudl be more painful. Better to dio it now than later.

its always better to get them done when their still young so they don't have to go through it at an older age since it can be a little painful. I say wait til they are a few months old.
