I've been friends with this girl for over 3 years. Last year, we didn't really do anything for her birthday, but when I saw her after her big day, I got her a nice gift. She really loved it and was surprised, because she didn't even have a party or anything. When my birthday came up last year, she wasn't able to make it to my birthday dinner. She never got me a gift either. But everytime I saw her, for about a month after that, she'd be like, "OMG, I forgot to bring your goft with me!" or "OMG, i left your gift in my room, and forgot to bring it down to you!" This was obviously a fake cover-up!

Soooo, now it's her birthday again and we're gonna go out for dinner. Should I get her a gift??? Hmmm?! If I do, then she'll be double gifted by me and that's messed up...but if I don't get her a gift, then I might look bad in front of everyone else who got her gifts! :o\

Maybe I should get her a tiny gift? Please help!!!

I have a friend who did the same thing to me. I still gave her a gift for her birthday. Gifts are meant to be given -- they not always meant to be received.

If she is really a friend, bite the bullet and get her a gift. Remember, it is better to give than to receive. Maybe she doesn't have the money to reciprocate and she is embarrassed. Give her the benefit of the doubt.

well, it would be polite... i see your point. if it happens again, then dont do it next time, but this time i would "let her off"... thats what friends are for, are they not?
