I'm new at this and i just need a macro that will open a template that I designed automatically. I want to set it up to just push a button at the bottom of the page and it opens a new template. Is this possible?

Yes it is.

First you need to customize your toolbars (right click on a tool bar and select the customize option). Then you will have to install a button to which you can assign your macro. You can either edit an image yourself or select a pre-made image for your button.

Start with a blank page and then you go to the Tools Menu in MS Word and start recording a Macro. Until you hit the stop button every action you take will be recorded. Then use the open file box and navigate to the file you want to use as a template. Select that file and open it, then do anything else you want to always do when you open your template and finally close the Macro or stop recording it.

Now when you go to the Customize option you will see a selection that lets you call up Macros that you have recorded. You only have to assign the new Macro to the button you select and you are done.

Of course unless you certify the Macro you will come up with a message box every time you open MS Word. The dialog box that pops up will ask if you want to enable or disable the Macros in your session. If you enable the Macro then as long as you have MS Word running you can use your Macro. Be careful though if you record the Macro inside of your template then whenever you open the template you will get that dialog box. This dialog box is a safety function because some viruses can be run as Macros.

just open the record macro from the tools tab then proceed with the steps it takes to open your template then stop the macro you should then have a macro that will do the same exact steps you recorded to open your template.

Cheers
