The rumor going around is that the PS3 will get a price drop this year in order to boost up the PS3's sales, but personally, I don't think it's the price that's to blame for the PS3's sluggish sales, it's the lack of good games.
Once the heavy hitters come out for the PS3, the sales should pick up, so there might not be a price drop this year, or if there is one, it might be 50 bucks instead of 100 bucks.
For sure, you can expect a price drop in 2008, probably around May because that's how long it took for the PS2 to have a price drop, and the PS2 sold a lot more than the PS3 in the same time period since launch.

Since the announce of the 360Elite and the cancellation of the 20GB PS3, I would say the ps3 will drop to 500 bucks in 6 months(around christmas) since the elite is 500 after taxes to compete.

I hope it may be by the end of 2008.
I want one too but it is too expensive.
The sales is not that great compared to PS1 and PS2.
It may be sooner that the price is reduced.
I hope so.

I doubt it will change for quite a while. It will most likely be at least next year.
